Wind Mitigation Inspection

Florida law requires insurance companies to offer discounts for building features that reduce wind damage. A wind mitigation inspection documents those features on the state's official form, OIR-B1-1802, so your insurer can apply the credits.

The details

Good to know before you book.

01

What it can save

Every policy and insurer is different, so no inspector can promise a number. For many Florida homes, especially with a hip roof, strong roof-to-wall connections or impact protection, the credits can be meaningful. Your insurance agent can tell you what applies to your policy.

02

Documentation matters

Credits depend on what can be verified. Have permits, window and door product approvals and receipts handy if you have them. Chris photographs what he can see in the attic and at every opening.

03

How long it lasts

A completed OIR-B1-1802 form is generally accepted for up to five years, as long as nothing on the home has changed. Replace the roof or windows and it's worth updating.

Pricing depends on the property's size, age, type and the services you combine. Send a request for an exact quote.
